I am pleased to announce that as of January 2011, I am officially a Board Certified Medical Illustrator. 

Certification is not required to practice in our field, but I decided that it was worth pursuing. In order to become certified one must pass a comprehensive exam that includes a challenging drawing problem as well as questions on medical science and business practices. I now have a responsibility to continue my education (happily!) to ensure that I stay current in the areas of art, science, and technology. When you enlist a Certified Medical Illustrator, you can have confidence that your project is in expert hands.
